Teton County, Wyoming

I'm afraid my Sasquatch story is pretty dated, but I will pass it along.
Back in 1974 in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, 3 cowboys came out of the saloon in a hotel at the base of Snow King Mountain, which overlooks Jackson on the south. They said they saw a huge creature at the edge of the parking lot standing under one of the lights of the parking area. They said it looked like a huge gorilla.
What got my interest was that all three of them said it stood twice as tall as the roofs of the cars parked there. Now, their story was not to be believed because they had just exited the saloon and had been drinking. I was Captain of the Teton County Sheriff's Reserve Search and Rescue Unit and was experienced in finding lost persons and tracking.
The story was blown off because of their intoxication, but I was not convinced they were seeing things. The next morning, I went to the spot and followed the small footpaths up Snow King looking for tracks. The area was dry and rocky, yet I did find soft-edged imprints in the trail. I did not find a track that was entire or definitive, but the rounded edges of the impressions in the trail told me that a large animal, whether a bear (and we had lots of those) or an actual Sasquatch had climbed that trail up the mountain.
Jackson, Wyoming, is in the mountains, elevation 6,800 feet, and moose and
elk often come right into the town. I have pictures of moose at my wife's CPA
office, and one of a cow moose in our front yard. I can't say for sure that we
had a visit from Sasquatch, but I can't dismiss it as a fantasy of 3 drunken
cowboys. These guys know what bear and moose look like because they see them
all the time.
