Games
by C.L. Bruun
The Games are played. Is there a need
To play them now? Do they succeed?
You calculate the words you say
And at arms length you keep at bay
The one who loves you, though I say
How much I love you every day.
You weigh the words you let me hear
And hide behind a mask of fear
Of getting close. You might get hurt.
So play the game and stay alert.
Despite my love, It's not enough.
For loving you is very tough.
You may wake up to find me gone.
So stop the games. Your reasoning's wrong!
I love you so despite your fear.
Put down your wall. Come over here.
And let me show you love's great joy,
And share my love. Please don't destroy.
The chance you have for happiness.
Why pull away? I can only guess.
I'll walk right out, and warned I may.
I'm tired of the games you play.
If I've to wait too long, you see.
You've seen the very last of me.
