Biography of Small Town's Mayor

As of August, 2019, Burton Hendrix has been the Mayor of Small Town.  He has held this position for nine years.  We don't have political parties in Small Town.  All candidates just run as citizens of our town.  There is a special feature to the Mayor's office.  Mayor Hendrix had a fire pole installed so he could get to the firehouse in record time when the fire alarm goes off.

The fire pole lands him in a special room where he keeps all his fire equipment and where he can jump into his gear quickly.  From there, all he has to do is open a door, cross the street to the left side of Main Street. As soon as he opens the red door to the firehouse, he is ready to drive the big ladder truck.

The Mayor's office is a unique one.  In order to run for Mayor, the candidate has to also agree to be on the volunteer fire department.  It is a qualification that can't be overlooked.  We have yet to have a woman Mayor for this reason.  However, the winds of change are coming and who knows...there is always a first time.

Mayor Hendrix owns a rather large dairy farm just outside of town. It is called Brown Cow Farms

He prides himself in milking only brown cows.  While other dairies like to use the black and white spotted cows because of the larger production capacities, Mayor Hendrix chooses to only use the brown cows since discovering, early on in his operation, that the milk from a brown cow is less likely to cause milk allergies.  This fact has been proven scientifically.  He feels that providing the children of Small Town with the healthiest milk possible is his civic duty.  It is offered to the children in the school lunch program and sold in all the grocery stores in Small Town as well.  The local ice cream shop serves ice cream made from his milk.  And, each year they hold a festival out at the farm celebrating farming in general.

All proceeds made from this festival are donated to helping the small farmers who are struggling to stay in business.  Bands come from all over the states as well as vendors, entertainers, and other exciting displays.  Since Small Town doesn't have an annual fair, the 4-H use this festival to show off their projects.  Many artists come to sell their art pieces and dancers come from all over the world to show off their skills.  It is a fun time for all.

The Mayor is married and has three children.  His two older sons, James and Logan, help him run the farm.  They both attend Small Town High School.  James and Logan are twins and Junior's this year. They seem to be quite popular with the local girls here in Small Town.

Janie, is his wife.  She runs the business end of the farm.  She is also the local accountant and takes care of the taxes for many of the local residents during tax time.  Like I said before...we wear many hats here in Small Town.
