This e-mail was sent to Sasquatch Watch and creates some interesting questions. |
Hi Christine,
I have been to your site a few times. It is
neat.
I have two news stories I will link to you. Today in the paper there
was another unusual, in my opinion, incident that I hope I can find time to go
out to the site and look around
this weekend. It involved a motorcycle rider in a rural area around Grants
Pass
the article said they believe he struck a deer and died of massive internal
injuries.
The way I read the article is that they were not
sure but are assuming that was what happened. If I get a chance to check
the site out this weekend I will let you know what kind of sign I find in the
area. When you get used to a BF area the sign is pretty obvious if they
are around.
Thank you for posting in your question and
answer section. Here are the articles.
Crew Search for Missing Moss Hunter
June 24, 2001, 04:45 PM
By KGW staff
Search and rescue teams east of Silverton are looking for man who disappeared
Thursday while collecting moss in the woods with his family.
Premie Zaragoza, 48, lost his wife to cancer a few months ago and had just
moved to Salem to be near his family.
His brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews have been looking for him in the
woods for the past four days.
"His mom and sister were with him," said Lisa Zaragoza, his sister.
"He had
been depressed but in pretty good spirits. They had no idea this was going to
happen."
Sheriff's deputies believe he could be hurt or he disappeared voluntarily.
"The other scenario is that if he's voluntarily decided to leave his
family,
that he's outside the area and hasn't contacted the family," said Lt. Bob
Stai of the Marion County Sheriff's Dept.
The family made up flyers in case Premie somehow hiked out on his own. They
just want to know he's alive.
One can earn up to $90 a day, selling the moss to nurseries.
Zaragoza had been out collecting moss before, but he was not dressed or
equipped to be outdoors overnight.

I REALLY hope this guy is found. Safe and sound. I would hope that he is
merely lost and staying warm until found.
But if not, I would really like to know what the sheriffs and
other
searchers think and found. I have read several reports that have been
possibly bf related that were not reported as such. There was an incident in
Washington where a rifle was bent around a tree near a dead hunter and the
police said the elk he had shot did this to the gun. Apparently when
interviewed by a bf researcher the officer said, and I am paraphrasing here,
'what am I supposed to say? That he was killed by a bigfoot?'

Will have to look for the other one It was a post
on KGW.COM on June 22.
I printed it out but didn't save it.
Thanks again for your help.
