"On The Road"

We are particularly excited about this addition to our site! Jim and I love to try out new restaurants and eateries. We enjoy the adventure of discovering new cuisine and unusual atmosphere. We believe that dining out should be a wonderful experience, from the food, the service, your surroundings, right down to the cleanliness of the restrooms.

We are going to share our findings with you! Yes, providing information that allows you to make informed decisions, is our paramount goal. To this end we hope you will check us out regularly.

We have been grounded for a while while Jim was dealing with kidney disease.  He had a transplant in February of 2006 and is now recuperated enough to start to travel a bit.  We have decided to focus our present adventures in dining on local fare.  That means Chester, SC and surrounding areas.  When we are ready for long treks, we will add them to our reports.

We will include two special features in "On The Road".

We feel that there is no excuse for bad food, bad service and filthy restrooms, we will be offering The Cactus Needle Award to those establishments we feel merit an absolutely horrible rating. We will be honest and frank and explain why this award was given to each particular establishment. We will not stop there. Each restaurant will be handed a copy of our rating sheet before we leave so there will be no surprises. We think this is only fair. We hold every establishment to this scrutiny, even fast food eateries, which we occasionally frequent during our travels, so they will fall or rise along with everyone else.

Since we appreciate the truly wonderful dining experiences, the unexpected, the management that goes the extra mile, we are also offering The Cactus Flower Award. We feel that it is just as important to show appreciation for a job well done. Just as complaining hopefully changes things in an establishment that is falling down on the job, it is important to make sure they also know when you are pleased. So, for those special experiences, whether it is a fast food restaurant or a gourmet restaurant, we will be offering this special Cactus Flower award.

As we go "on the road" with Restaurant Road, our Las Vegas Review, we will also be bringing you reviews from every town we visit around the country. The dining Experience will be our review of these eateries, restaurants, cafes, and fast food restaurants as we crisscross the countryside.  We have created a new feature, Local Fare, where we share with you the dining experiences right here in Chester, South Carolina.  I think you will enjoy it!
