| Barley Grass contain more dietary fiber than bran, and is a rich source of beta carotene (which the body can readily convert to vitamin A if there is not enough of it), chlorophyll, iron, Vitamin C, B12, and all the essential amino acids. It improves stamina, clarity of thought, and even aids the body in DNA repair. | Wheat Grass is a concentrated superfood that is 25% protein, a higher percentage than is contained in meat or fish. More importantly, wheat grass helps the body resist damage from X-rays, radiation therapy, and pollution in the air we breathe. Like barley grass, it is also rich in chlorophyll. | Bilberry has anthocyanosides which have been found to be effective for a variety of visual problems from myopia (nearsightedness) to hemeralopia (day blindness) and nyctalopia (night blindness). It assists with various vascular disturbances of the retina. The anthocyanosides also work to strengthen capillary integrity, and promote a healthy interplay of important enzymes. This means Bilberry is helpful for purpura (bleeding under the skin), easy bruising, coagulation problems and varicose veins. |
| Cayenne or Red Pepper (capsicum Minimum) contains a chemical called capsaicin which is responsible for the "hotness" of peppers. Capsaicin is also responsible for the medicinal effects of this pepper. This substance is so powerful and effective that in just the past two years alone over 650 studies have been conducted on this "hot" compound. It assists digestion, increases and improves circulation, and aids the heart by thinning the blood and fighting platelet aggregation. | Garlic is thought by many to slow the aging process. Science has proven that garlic can be a remedy for asthma, bronchial congestion, arteriosclerosis, fever, circulatory problems and liver conditions. It is also used by various cultures as a remedy for Candida Albicans, diabetes, dysentery, heart disease, hypertension, and pneumonia. It acts as a natural fungicide and antibiotic, purifying the blood in the body, removes toxic substances, and encourages secretion of hormones, prevents fatigue, and helps retain vital B vitamins in the system. It even helps keep weight levels down. However, most importantly, it is being recognized as a powerful anti-cancer agent, because it can block cell damaging heterocyclic amines (HCA's) . USA Weekend as recently as the June 23-25 edition named the chemicals in garlic and tea as primary HCA blockers | Green Tea has joined garlic, oats, and broccoli on the list of foods that may protect people from cancer. It is a known HCA blocker. The polyphenols and other substances in green tea show an inhibiting effect against cancer of the stomach, liver, skin, and lung. In addition, it appears to help lower blood pressure and blood cholesterol, stabilize blood sugar, kill decaying bacteria, and block the action of many carcinogens. |
| Siberian Ginseng is the classic adaptogen. Adaptogens, also referred to as normalizers, are broad spectrum substances that normalize body functions through preventive and therapeutic measures. They affect people according to each persons biochemical and physiological individuality. Amazingly, they help keep a body warm or cool, depending on the individual's needs. They are non-toxic, non-habit forming regulators. Not only does Siberian Ginseng contain important vitamins and minerals, it has a generous amount of a very key mineral called germanium. The presence of germanium helps preserve oxygen in the body, and to stimulate the immune system. Germanium promotes the production of interferon, activates T-cell synthesis, and enhances macrophage function. It serves as a circulatory stimulant, and is very helpful for irritability, insomnia, general unrest, and exhaustion. | Ginkgo Biloba is a veritable powerhouse of flavonoids, glycosides, and ginkgolides. Ginkgo shows great promise as a brain stimulant. Researchers note it appears to increase cerebral blood flow and thus oxygen and glucose utilization. It can provide relief from the many side effects of aging. Numerous studies involving hundreds of geriatric patients with chronic cerebral insufficiency showed substantial regression of the major symptoms, including vertigo, headache, tinnitus, senility, depression and fatigue. Ginkgo is also a very powerful antioxidant. | |

Do any of us really need a "Phyto" (the Greek work for plant is "Phyto") product, and if so, why?
First, the U.S. Public Health Service reports that 92% of the population fail to consume enough green foods on a daily basis. Three to five servings daily of vegetables have been recommended. Does this match your diet? Consider that Newsweek recently (April 25, 1994) was quoted as saying "...Amid all the debate, phytochemicals offer the next hope for a magic pill, one that would go beyond vitamins." How can something possibly go beyond the good that vitamins do? The answer is simpler than one might think.
What is the Importance of Phytochemicals?
A few years ago, scientists didn't even know that phytochemicals existed, but scientists have long known the importance of plants and the chemicals they product in overcoming disease. Over 25% of all prescription drugs still use plants as their principal ingredient. In fact, from the Journal of American Arthritis Foundation we find this statement, "Oranges, grapefruits, and broccoli can sometimes be as effective as prescription pain killers," and unlike most drugs, with no side effects. Now they are the new frontier in health research. Bob Arnot, MD, and Health Correspondent for CBS News has related, "You can expect as we learn more about the doses, that foods really are going to become the drugs of the 1990's." With statements like these, do you think you want to learn a little more about Phytochemicals? These amazing compounds were apparently created in plants to protect them from sunlight. Research is now starting to reveal that these compelling compounds protect humans just like they do plants, keeping degenerative diseases at lower levels or preventing them completely when used on a regular basis.
