The Process Continues
Once the land is leveled and cleared, the
concrete piers are poured. This is where the block will be stacked under the
home for support. They are lined up in four straight columns. There are about
four odd -set piers set down the middle. These support the two halves when they
are placed together.

It is important to remove any clods afterwards. They can be used to fill in ruts left during the delivery and setup of the house. The reason these should be removed is that some manufacturers require plastic to be laid under the house in order for the warrantee to be valid. We were required to lay our own plastic. We used 6 mil black. Anything lighter would have not handled the job.
The day the house was delivered on the lot
we were two hours away. We drove up after work to see the house, even though it
was in the dark. By the time it was delivered, we were in need of some
reassurance that the processes was actually happening. It had been a longtime
since we had started the process.

So this was an important step for us, to actually see it sitting on our property!
It gave us hope that there was, indeed an end in sight. The beginning of the process had been in April of 1997.It was now February of 1998. Expect the process to take about a year from the day you start looking at home and property to when you are handed the keys.
