A sneak peek at the inside of a Palm Harbor Home

The following pictures were taken of a double-wide model on the Palm Harbor lot. You will see that some walls are sheet rocked and others in a print wallboard design. You can choose plain wallboard or print wallboard in a design that is coordinated with the color scheme. It will be limited to only a few designs and choices. They usually have two wallboard patterns with no color design. Or, you can choose sheet rocked walls that look more like a regular home would.

Only non water rooms can be sheet rocked. This means that all rooms except the bath, laundry rooms and kitchen can be sheet rocked.

We chose wallboard that had no pattern or color for our water rooms because we planned on painting them later on as we decorated. This way we could remove the strips of molding that mark each seam, fill the seams with the same product you use to put up sheet rock, and then sand and paint over them. The walls will look seamless like the sheet rocked rooms when we are finished.

This is the master bath. It has a garden tub. There are several models to choose from. The only limitation is the size which can fit into each model's bath. We had wanted one with a box frame and tiled, but it would not fit in the particular model we had chosen so we settled for this tub model. It is a Jacuzzi style. There is a shower to the left behind the door. Double sinks are on the right. The toilet is on the outside wall next to the shower and there is a small partition there. A linen closet is on the left of the tub directly in front of the toilet. There is a window also on the left. We placed a skylight over the tub. We do not have to use lights during the day because of the skylight.

This is a picture of master bedroom where the door to the master bath is. You can see a hint of the shower behind the door. This model has heat vents that are up against the outside walls rather than in the floor itself so that it allows much more floor space for large king-size bedroom sets. Floor vents were a big problem for us since we had a very large king size water bed. The models that had floor vents often had them placed in such a way that at least one vent would be under the bed. We had a hard time finding a model with the heat vents on the wall. We were ready to buy a particular model from another dealer until we discovered that they could not move the vents. This sent us hunting again for a dealer that offered the vents on the wall.

As you notice the patterned wallboard, remember that if you grow weary of that pattern or choose to change your decor, you are stuck with the pattern no matter what, so be very careful when choosing the color schemes and patterns in your home. If there is any chance that you will want to remodel at some time, you might consider wallboard with no pattern. And, again, remember that the bedroom can be sheet rocked.

This is looking at the front door. To the left is the adult retreat, to the right the dining room. You will notice the walls are sheet rocked in the living and dining room. The adult retreat is not. There are double doors marking the entrance to the adult retreat. The master bedroom is to the left off the retreat. This is a room that you may be able to convert into a dressing room or more closet space or extend the bath into this room. These are options that you need to discuss with the salesman and he with the engineer at the factory. It would also make a nice nursery until no longer needed . We intend to use it for our library/reading room. We will be building wall to wall bookcases. Eventually me may decide to extend the bath, but for now, it will be a library.

You will notice that the room is carpeted right up the to front door. You can have a linoleum or wood entry way floor put in to catch dirt and mud at the front door. Ask your salesman about this option.
