TAKING A WALK
By
Christine Bruun
I went walking just to see
All the things that there might be
Down the lane, and in my yard,
Around the block. It wasn't hard.

There I saw a butterfly.
It flew across a meadow by
A picket fence all painted white.
Then it fluttered out of sight.

I saw a frog, all green and wet,
Sitting near a pond, and yet,
The frog ignored me, on that limb
Until I came too close to him.
I saw an ant. It was so small.
It ran across my shadow tall.
It scurried home, but I don't care.
It had a crumb of bread to share.

A bee began to buzz around.
It made a strange and whirring sound.
It lit upon a flower there
And buzzed around without a care

A catface spider spun his web
Between two leaves so he'd be fed
By some poor fly that might get caught.
Today I really learned a lot.
Tomorrow I will see again
Just what there is to see, and then,
I'll take a walk round my yard.
It really isn't very hard!
