If you are ever in Iowa, don't pass up the chance to visit "The Field of Dreams", the exact one from the movie by the same name, staring Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones.
This site remains as it was in the movie. The baseball field is there, along with the corn field. A ghost team of players appears out of the corn to play a game of baseball with the people who have come to visit.
The baseball field was built on site and included two different properties. The people who owned the property where left field stands plowed it under and planted corn after the movie. The people owning the balance of the field left theirs as it was.
Suddenly, a strange thing began to happen. Strangers started arriving at the dream field at all hours of the day. They wanted to see the dream field. More and more people arrived every day until there was a steady stream of cars coming and going.
The owners of the house tried to convince the owners of left field to plow under their corn and bring the ball field back to its dream field look. But, they balked.

finally, there were so many people coming they too
changed their mind and their corn field was turned back into left field.
Something about the message that movie evoked had truly created a miracle. They
came in wheel chairs, vans, station wagons, sedans. They came filled with
children, the elderly, the working class. They came in Lincoln Continentals,
they came with bats, and balls, and gloves. But most of all, they came with
their own dreams and hopes and needs.
Bring your bat, ball, and glove when you come. Two souvenir stands sell even the uniforms so you can take pictures of your loved ones walking out of the corn field. There is a magic there. People come to feel that magic .

"If you build It they will come", was the famous line from the movie. They built it and the people came. It was a very energizing experience, one well worth the trip. No fee is charged for this experience. Make sure you visit both souvenier stands and buy a little from each to insure that the field stays intact.

If you don't like to play ball yourself, sit in the same stands where the actors sat during filming. Watch the ghost players who come out of the field.

While you are there, visit the Ertyle Toy Museum. Also in the town of Dyersville.
