I just found out that I might be eligible to apply for membership in The Daughters Of The Utah Pioneers.
I have a rich heritage that includes family members who came across the plains in the Second Hand Cart Company. They settled in the Salt Lake Valley and owned one corner of the down town Salt Lake area that one side of the Eagle arch sits on. They sold it to Brigham Young for a team of oxen and moved to California. I have heard that the Smiths, leaders of the Mormon church, might be related to me some way.
I find this very exciting. I learned that my relatives came across the ocean from England and from there to the Salt Lake Valley.
