Display cases line the hallways that lead from room to room. They are filled with everything from antique dolls to cannon balls and pistols. If its is collectable, you will find it at House on the rock.

The picture on the right shows just a tiny portion of a room that will excite and delight. It contains the most unexplainable collection that runs all the way from giant copper bottomed base drums to hand carved moonshine jugs to instruments and clocks of every kind and size. It is truly a unique site that defines explanation. It is one you have to see to believe and appreciate. By the way, yes, that is a tree in the foreground. Nothing goes to waste at the House on the Rocks.

Here again is a small alcove carved out of the rock chimney itself. There is seating available as well as a cooking area. Remember, the man actually lived here. All the rooms are functional and served their designer well.

The photo on the right shows a giant wooden clock. It rises from the floor of the same room that is pictured above that contains the tree in the foreground. It stops short only a few feet from the ceiling of this giant room. A visit to the House on the Rock will never be disappointing!

My favorite room next to the Carousel room is the Mikado. It is a life-size music box. It is just one of the many music boxes displayed at the House on the Rock. The drummer moves. His eyes move. It is a delightful scene to watch as you listen to the instrumental played by this giant music box.

Oh, and by the way, pick up tokens before you start your journey because you can actually play these music boxes. They take the tokens you purchase at the ticket booth. Bring plenty with you so you can hear them all.

Some are antique, others just unique. There is one music box with real life-size instruments. It is a full orchestra that plays. It is in a room all of its own.
