Want to live Longer? Stay away From Your Kids!
According to an article on October 6, 1998 in Weekly World News, If you want to live longer you need to see less of your children.
It warned that those senior citizen parents who were dependent on their children and who saw them frequently, lived 4 years less than their projected lifespan. while those senior citizens who lived independently and had full active lives that did not necessarily include their children on a regular basis, lived four years longer that their projected lifespan.
Dr. Insa Fooken, a gerontologist at the University of Bonn in West Germany, started her study in 1965. She studied more than 200 people born between 1890 and 1905. There was one thing that popped up right away in the hunt for the factors that contribute to longevity. "Those people who had contact with and relied upon the support of their children fell short of their expectancy by an alarming 4 years.
Those who lived longer had established a lifestyle that was independent of their children. "Their Children were not around them every day, as one sees with many elderly parents who rely on their children for social support," Dr. Fooken Explained.
"These people were socializing with friends their own age, or just with their own spouses, and had interests of their own outside the family. My advice is that if couples what to live longer, they should socialize away from their children."
