Portland's Japanese Gardens

 

The beauty of an authentic Japanese garden has been created in the midst of the busy metropolis of Portland, Oregon. Its beauty and peacefulness will definitely take you away from it all.

It sits on the west side, just off Kinston. It is boundried by the Rose Test Garden , Washington Park, the Metro Washington Park Zoo, and the Civic Stadium. W. Burnside borders it on the North West. SW Taylor runs right into Kingston. It is easy to find it from the freeway.

It is open daily 10:00 am to 6:00 pm spring, fall, and winter. It is open 9:00 am during the summer months of June 1st through August 31st.

They offer daily guided tours April through October 10:45 & 2:30 - make sure you wear walking shoes for this tour.

Seniors (62 & over) $4

Students $3.50

Children under six years of age admitted free

The Japanese Garden is located on the westside of Washington Park directly aboce the International Rose Test Gardens. Public transportaion is availbable via Tri-Met bus #63 or by taking Westside Lightrail-Metro Washington Park Zoo stop (beginning Aug. This garden is sponsored by The Japanese Garden Society of Oregon and is a not-for-profit, non-tax supported organization. The garden is maintained through admissions, memberhsips and special gifts.
