Meet Jim & Chris

Jim says, " Most frogs think they are a Prince."
I say, "You have to go through a lot of frogs to find that Real Prince!"
Once Upon a Time..."Once Upon A Time"... is the best way to begin our story. It has been an adventure right from the beginning.

Gardening This Year has been tough
Jim's Resume Jim is a Contract Engineer, software design and programming. He is a retired Naval Officer with a background in electronics and nuclear power. He was working for NOAA at the time we were married, in a full time position. One day he came home and said that he had quit his job, and had decided he wanted to travel. We packed up our belongings, bought a motor home, sold his home, and took off across country to New Plymouth, Michigan. Thus the saga begins.
We finally ended up in Charlotte, North Carolina. And then, in Chester, South Carolina, where we have finally put down roots. We have been married almost 8 years now and it has never stopped being an adventure.
"We enjoy travel" is an understatement. I don't think we spent one weekend at home the entire first two years of our marriage. However, finances and saner heads have prevailed.
Jim & I both love photography, which is probably obvious from our site. I hold with the adage that, "a picture speaks a thousand words," allowing my mouth and my fingers a bit of a rest now and then-- Not that it happens very often. There are no pregnant pauses in our conversations when I am around.
We love Las Vegas and thought we might retire there. Those plans have changed slightly but we still plan on visiting frequently! The desert still calls to us still, but Albuquerque, New Mexico will be but a way-stop on one of are many cross-country adventures.
Jim and I both write and have been published. Jim is a private Pilot and a gadget/Techno-Geek,( This part of our site is under construction) The more knobs, buttons and whistles the better. He loves woodworking. We both love to garden. He is a Purdue graduate and taught computer programming for several years in Virginia Beach.
I like to paint murals. I collect Dragonware, especially the Lithos. Jim's future plans are to invent and build an innovative "saucer"-copter that he can give to the world. He believes in alternative energy sources and is researching for the purchase of his first electric vehicle.
We enjoy a good movie and a pleasant dinner. We love to shop for that "special find" at out-of-the-way stores, garage sales and auctions. We are interested in Bigfoot, (in fact, we have just won the prestigious StudyWeb award for Academic Excellence for our Sasquatch Watch Site), and Jim leans toward UFO phenomena.
I am a fast person, running around with several irons in the fire, while Jim is more methodical and structured. He always says that I can accomplish more in a few hours than most people can in a few months. However, there is a price to be paid for that. I need downtime to rejuvenate and recoup my energy. That is when you find our site sitting unchanged for a few weeks. When I am up and moving it can change almost daily. Otherwise, Jim and I are a lot a like. We both love adventure, learning new things, and embracing new ideas.
I was computer illiterate...and I mean really illiterate! I had gone back to college and was working towards an associate degree in business management when I walked away from my life, as I had known it. Sometimes things just can't wait. I had done a little accounting basics on the computer but that was the extent.
I was terrified that I would blow up the computer if I hit the wrong key. Thanks to my college professor, who saw my potential and took me under his wing, I soon learned that there was a life out there much different than I ever thought possible. That knowledge and the things I had learned in college, (at age 44), allowed me to move out of a doomed marriage and get on with my life.
So, when Jim and I were married he had to teach me from scratch. He taught me the basics and it has just grown from there. He is my technical advisor. He fixes the things I break and does my editing, when I let him, (thank goodness for spell check!), and fills in when I run across something I am not able to handle.
This site was created out of a need to help people and give back some of the blessings we have received. We try to be as accurate and open as possible. If an error is made we try and correct it as soon as possible. If you want find out more about how I am, just go to "From The Editor" to hear what's been weighing on my mind these days.
So, there you have it from my point of view. I am sure Jim will want to add his two cents in here too!
Now you know a little bit about us. Thanks for visiting and let us know how you like what we have done.
Chris
