The Manufactured Home Buying Process: Everything you will need to know before you buy
We hope that the information we have gleaned from our own personal experience will benefit you when you are considering your housing options. A manufactured home can be a viable option that you should consider before you make your final decision to buy an existing home or build from scratch. It is affordable and can provide a less expensive opportunity to trade the small lots and crowded conditions of the city for the sprawling peace of country living. We paid $35,000.00 , (in 1998) for a 4.6 acre wooded lot, (with well and septic tank), on a 12 acre lake filled with bass and sunfish. We are equal distance between three major cities with a commute for work of no more than one hour either direction. This means that we have the pleasures of living in the country while being able to have the benefits of the big city when ever we want them. The taxes are lower and the zoning restrictions are less intrusive. A home in the city, (selling for the same amount), would get a basic boxy home with small rooms and a very small lot close to the neighbors.
