Dancing My Way To Health
I don't know about you, but dancing is one of the most enjoyable things to do! I love to dance. When I was single I would do line dancing specifically because I didn't need a partner. I have danced my guts out ever since I first learned how to dance. Music and dance...
You will often catch me watching movies like Flash Dancing, Foot Loose, Fame, , Xanadu, Saturday Night Fever, any musical, and anything with music and dancing.
Sadly, I married a man who cannot appreciate either music or dance. He is tone deaf. He has no rhythm, & he can't dance. He can't even pretend to dance. (Sorry, Jim, but that I have to be honest here). So, I gave up dancing and music in my life when he is around. To him most music is noise. However, I have discovered that music and dance are the two things that give me joy, energy, and inspiration.
I tried using the recumbent bike and watching TV. while I peddled. I have a disc in my back that is at just the wrong spot for the angle of the bike. It irritates the sciatic nerve and causes me great pain and weakness in my left leg. I was frustrated. We presently live in the south and the heat and humidity prevent me from getting out and walking or running. I had to find something that I could do without injuring myself.
Dancing, ladies, is my answer. I discovered the music channel on my cable. I could choose any music for what ever speed I wanted to move. 70's music is my favorite. Country Western is good when I am in the mood. But what I discovered is I love to dance and had forgotten how good it felt.
I just turn the t.v to cable music and dance my self to health. I am not irritating the nerves in my back or causing my disc to balloon out. I am not suffering or in pain. I can slow down or speed up depending on what kind of workout I want. I started with 30 minutes of Disco music my first day. The second day I did 45 minutes. Today I did 50 minutes which included a 30 minute slower than usual warm up because I was a bit stiff and didn't want to over do it.
I can very it for any condition or need. I think you will like it and you don't even need the TV on. just pop in your favorite music and dance your weight to fitness.
