The Wild Man of China
High in the Mountains of China roams a Wild Man who looks mysteriously like our North American Bigfoot. It lives in the Hubei region of China. This region is known for its 10,000 ft. mountain ranges and numerous cave systems.
This creature has been estimated at 10 to 11 ft. tall and has bright reddish orange hair that streams out behind him when he moves, and he can move very fast.
This elusive creature is so dominant in the culture that even the Chinese school children know all about him and can tell you what he looks like and where he lives. They call him the "Yerin" a name that I am spelling phonetically since I do not as yet have the correct spelling.
The documentary, made by the Chinese Government on one of its many expeditions, showed a news reel taken in 1978 of footprints and the making of casts from those footprints. The casts were taken to a fingerprint and foot expert who examined it and determined that the toes were oddly spaced because a rock was wedged between two of the toes in the print.
The print was 19 inches long and was impressed into the ground some three inches. He estimated the height would have to be about 11 ft tall. He surmised that the creature would be a young or middle aged creature--a heavy animals.
The stride of this creature was 5 1/2 to 6 1/2 feet long. The government has made seven expeditions which have all turned out unsuccessfully.
Most scientists believe that this creature's ancestor is the Gigantus Pethecus who's numerous bone fragments have been discovered throughout the region. It is reported to have weighed three times the weight of the orangutan. And its head is twice to three times the size of a human head.
It roamed the region at the same time that the giant panda roamed and because the panda has survived into present day, they believe that it is certainly possible that a Gigantus Pethecus has also survived, accounting for the more than 100 reports at the animal preserve in the region, where the population is only 1000 people.
In an expedition during 1996, the Chinese government, though they did not find the creature, did manage to discover 200 new plant species during their trek. This dense rainforest area is so remote that it would be almost impossible to cover every inch of the region in one's lifetime.
However, two courageous men from the UU Ping village in the area, (again I am spelling this name phonetically), and who know the mountains well, have spent fifteen years of their lives searching the cave systems and the region . They were leaving on another expedition as this documentary was being filmed.
China is the only country where their belief in the existence of this creature is backed up by concrete evidence in the form of fossil records.
In 1980, hairs were discovered five feet up on a tree where an animal had rubbed itself. There are now only three left. Of the hairs tested in labs all over the world, only one was labeled to be not from any known species of animal known at this time. The Chinese see this as just further proof that there is truly something out there.
One theory is that the Gigantus Pethecus crossed the land bridge from Siberia to the Arctic and migrated down into the North American Continent. This is very possible. And it would account for its presence here.
We also must remember that according to scientific research, the land masses of the world were once one. The continents broke away from each other and floated to their present locations. This might also account for Britain, Australia, and other countries having their own reports of their own creature.
