Another Witness to the Iceman Reveals His Memories and Impressions

I have also seen the "Iceman" several times, at the Eastland Shopping Center near Pittsburgh PA. It was advertised as "The Mysterious Creature in Ice". The year was either 1975 or '76 , as I recall.  

Over the course of a week, I went to this exhibit 3 or 4 times, spending a good deal of time viewing it. As mentioned, "it" was in a large glass topped refrigerated chamber. The ice covered the entire creature in a thin glaze, 1/4 to 1/2" thick, as if the ice had been melted down to an even thickness, following the contours of the body. 

A haze of frost covered most of the glass, except for around the head area. The creature itself was laying on its back, head tilted slightly back, with on arm above its head, palm up. The length of it seemed to be 5 to 6 feet, with a fairly heavy body build. 

It was covered with hair, but not fur; much of its Caucasian colored skin shown through the dark brown, coarse hair. It was ugly! It had a roundish head , and it's mouth was open slightly . You could see it's larger than human teeth and I believe its tongue. 

It had large, jutting eyebrow ridges, a flat nose, and a very thick jaw which looked to be broken. One of its eyes was out of its socket but still there. It looked as if it had fallen backwards on its head as there was a slight bit of brownish blood spread though the murky ice behind it. 

One thing that did stand out to me was it's feet. They were very large; not really that long, but very wide and thick, with big toes. The tops of the feet were covered with hair, and one of them seemed to have been partially decomposed, as if it had thawed and was exposed to the elements. 

It's hand were large also, with long fingers ; almost human like, but the finger length made them look odd. I have seen pictures of this exhibit in books over the years, but cannot remember which ones. 

I have reflected over what I saw at great length  since I saw it, and have come up with my own theory. This creature seemed to closely match the description of the Asian Alma described in the Mongolian regions. Many aspects match this description over say that of Sasquatch. Sasquatch, at least in the Patterson film, has darker skin, this thing's was clearly lighter.

Also the body shape was wrong, this thing was closer proportioned to that of a human body than that of a massively built Sasquatch. Also, some early reports mentioned a Soviet fishing boat was the source of this thing. Private contacts with the Soviets during the late 60's would be good reason to keep this thing under wraps, and to possibly create a Minnesota hunting trip story for its source.

Whatever it's source, lets just hope that this thing is still frozen somewhere, in private hands, waiting to be re-discovered and finally examined.
