Carnival Employee Remembers the Iceman

Report received December 2000

At the age of 19 (1969) I was one of the people to have seen the Iceman on Royal American Shows carnival. I was traveling with the carnival as an employee during the Calgary Exhibition and Edmonton Klondike Days.

I spent many hours viewing the casket in amazement. I believe I saw the real deal, not the rubber fake. I am a photographer and I studied the molecular structure of the protruding thumb (nail and individual hairs) with close scrutiny. The nose was very close to the end of the ice and the facial features were clearly visible. It's face had the look of a humanoid with a personality and a name, not as an ape or animal look. It sent shudders up my spine to view it in fascination that I have never forgot to this day.
