The month was February and the year was 1983. I lived in Poland Township on the corner of the Falconer Frewsburg Road and Dolloff Road.  The Dolloff Road runs off the Falconer Frewsburg and meets the Kennedy Frewsburg Road on the other end. The towns nearby are Falconer NY, Jamestown NY and Frewsburg NY. 

It was early morning and I was rabbit hunting on the Dolloff Rd. It had snowed the night before. I was about 60 yards down this road when I saw where something had crossed the road coming from the northern direction headed nearly south. I can't tell you how I felt when I saw the tracks, it was a weird feeling. 

The tracks looked like some human nut with pretty big feet was  walking bare foot in the snow, but because of the size of the tracks and the very cold weather this didn't make any sense. The tracks to my guess were about 16 "or 17 " long and not very wide from where the toes started to the heel, but the front was wide. I was wearing pack boots size 11 and the tracks were still some 3"or4" longer than my boot tracks. 

The way it was headed was blocked by the Cassadaga River, which forms sort of a horseshoe in this area. The land here is rather flat, very swampy with rivers on both sides of the road with hardwoods and pine trees. I followed the tracks through a field for about 30 yds. then they went into the woods.

 I found one place where it had stepped over a broken tree trunk, yet I was unable to do so and I am 5'11" tall. The tracks got to the bend in the river and it looked like it had slipped on the ice along the river, here the tracks were very plain. The tracks followed the river until they ended back at the Dolloff Rd. heading in a northeast direction about 75 yds. from where it first crossed. 

This part is very puzzling to me yet today. I could clearly see where it stood beside the road as if waiting for something {perhaps a vehicle?]. It then recrossed the Dolloff Rd. and I followed it to a large swamp then gave up as it went out on to the ice. My son told me later they had followed some large foot prints that were not fresh and he in no way could match the strides these tracks made. The Dolloff Rd. has since been fenced off and is no longer in use.
