Niagara Falls

Niagara--breathtaking and powerful!  It is something that is a "must see"!

Let me share with you some tips that we learned while at Niagara Falls.  Park and ride rather than drive your own car.  On the Canadian side, which has the best view, they provide a park and ride program where you can park your car quite a distance from the falls and ride a shuttle bus that stops at all the attractions.  There is everything from an arboretum to museums.  You can get to all of them using the shuttle.  We found it the best way to see Niagara.

If you purchase your tickets on the American side, there are some sites  on the Canadian side which are not available with the package.  The same is true if you buy your ticket package on the Canadian side.  Some American sites are not available.  Also, if you purchase tickets on the American side for the Maid of the Mist, you still have to pay a small fee if you take that ride from the Canadian side.  So, please, make sure you check with the ticket agent about this and ask a lot of questions.

Maid of the Mist - This is one experience that you cannot miss!

MVC-003S.JPG (48103 bytes)  We took our Maid of the Mist Tour from the Canadian side.  We feel that the Canadian side provided the best experience, since the American side is limited to the American Falls, and the view is limited from the American side.

MVC-011S.JPG (17269 bytes) This photo was taken from the Maid of the Mist  as we approached the Falls.  To the left is the American side, the right is the Canadian side.

MVC-001S.JPG (19749 bytes)  This is the view from the Canadian side looking at Horseshoe Falls.

MVC-004S.JPG (25831 bytes)  Notice the foam in the water.  The falls crash down at such force that it churns up the water and this foam floats everywhere.

MVC-005S.JPG (28713 bytes) This is a picture of me in my blue slicker provided by the tour.

MVC-008S.JPG (36216 bytes)  This is a picture looking from the Canadian side to the American side.  The people walking in the Yellow slickers are going to walk into a cave that takes them behind American Falls.  There is also a much more impressive cave tour on the Canadian side that actually takes you behind the Horseshoe  Falls.  It is much more impressive than the American Falls cave tour.  Both are wonderful to see, however.  Remember, however, that to see it all you will need at least two days, perhaps more.

MVC-019S.JPG (14419 bytes)  This is taken right up in the mist that rises from the falls as it tumbles down into the river.

MVC-025S.JPG (43521 bytes)  This picture was taken of birds sitting on a giant rock in the middle of the river.
