Question from Indiana Man

Question:  It's been said that there are ways to know when you're at a site visited by the big guy?

 I ask this because in the resent past [5-8 yrs.] I've had some strange things happen around me. I use to live in a wooded area in central Indiana.  When you live in a place like that sooner or later you get used to the way it sounds and smells, day or night. One night upon returning from the store, we, [me & my ex-wife], were greeted with dead silence. My dog, who always met us at the driveway, [we had 1\4 mi long driveway], wouldn't leave the porch. Also there was this smell of  rotted meat in the air. At other times, I would hear screams coming from the woods, as well as having the feeling of being watched. And well like I said I was just wondering.                           

Answer:  When we live in an area for a while we get to know the sights and sounds of the environment we live in.  When something out of the ordinary happens, we not only question the experience, we question our own interpretation of it.  This is natural.  

I don't know if mountain lions are prevalent in your area, but that could be one explanation.  However, there could also have been a Bigfoot in your area.  You certainly wouldn't have smelled rotten meat unless the cougar had brought down a kill.  Then, that smell would linger for a few days.  If the smell disappeared quickly, it could be that it was a Bigfoot who left the area.  Also, the wind direction might have changed, blowing the smell in another direction.  Carcasses are disposed of rather quickly by mother nature when left in the woods.  So,  unless those screams were that of a cougar, you may well have had one of those illusive Bigfoot experiences.

It is just difficult to know.  However, I would trust your own instincts.  Have you ever had the experience of having the hair stand up on the back of your neck?  Well, I have always felt we have some extra sense that warns us when something is not quite normal.  It would be a primal instinct from back in the caveman days when danger was very real.  So, if you felt something out of place, felt someone or something watching you, smelled something out of the of the normal, trust those special senses.  I just can't validate the premise that it was a Bigfoot, because there is just no way of knowing.  However, It may very well be one.
