About The Author

Erin is a normal teen-age girl.  She is in the 7th grade and is an artist.  She creates all the artwork used in her stories.  She loves to draw and is a member of the Art Club.  She also likes to write.  She has created this particular story from her own experiences.  Names have been changed to protect her friends, teachers, and others whom she bases her creations on.  Not that her friends mind, however, but the others just might.  Rosana is a caricature based on herself.  Erin says that she created Rosana as she saw herself--her            "other self ".  I guess you could say that it is the way we want others to see ourselves.  She likes math, but not science or social studies.  She also uses a graphic art program, (Jasc Paint shop Pro8),  to add pizzazz to her artwork

She hopes that her stories are easy to relate to and interesting enough that you will want to read more.  If you have any comments--you can e-mail Erin at: editor@cactusventures.com  and please put the name Rosana in the subject.

Rosana McLady

by Erin Story

This Story begins with a girl who is different and not different at the same time.  She is isolated from the world--trapped in a forest and not able to do anything fun.  That's the difference.  She has the same life you see in every girl. That's where our story begins.

"Hey, Mom, I was thinking of putting a picture of me on my invitations," said Rosana.  "Well, it is your birthday party.  You do what ever you want with your invitations,"  said her Mom.

It was difficult for Rosana, because her birthday party was in three weeks and she was behind on what she had to do.

It was the next day and Rosana was tired.  She got ready for school.  When she got in the courtyard of the school, she handed out seventy-five invitations to seventy-five people.  She gave her friends hair flowers with invitations attached to them.  It said this:

You have been invited to my birthday/pool party.

Meet me at the YMCA at 1:00PM

Bring the hair flowers and swimsuits.

She gave her crush, Peter, an invitation with a rose on it.  There was a special invitation attached to the rose.  It said:

"You will get the second piece of my cake.

Rosana Caroline McLady"

When he read it, he was surprised. "Thank you, Rosana," he said.

The other kids, she did not invite, kept on coming up to her and asking her why they were not invited. She told them two things. Either it was "Because I don't know you" or "you did not treat me nice last year".
When Tiffany came up, Rosana said," you are mean to me and you treat me like trash. You need to be nice to me if you want to be invited to my party." Tiffany screamed and walked away.

Rosana was so happy that she jumped up and down.

She told all of her friends what happened. They were happy too. Rosana told them that Tiffany might crash the party so she was going to need their help.
After school, Rosana found her mother watching Dr. Phil on the TV.  " Hey Mom, why can't we cut my hair?" she asked.
"Because we can't find the scissors,'' answered her mom.
"I think Grandpa has some," she smiled.  Rosana went into her Grandpa's office. She asked him if she could have a pair of scissors. He gave her a pair.
"Mom, Grandpa gave me a pair of scissors," said Rosana.
Rosana's Mother grabbed the scissors and started to cut her hair. Ten minutes later her hair was done. "You look cute!" she said proudly.

"You look cute!" her grandfather said.  But she wasn't quite sure she believed them.  She didn't believe them until she saw it for herself in the bathroom mirror. She thought she looked pretty good.
When everybody saw her with the short hair, they could not believe their eyes.  "Rosana your hair is short,'' everyone said.
"Well that’s because I cut it," She said.

    "You look cute!" everyone agreed.
