Arlington Cemetery
Arlington Cemetery is an emotionally moving place. It is entirely up and down hill. This makes it difficult for anyone who is handicapped to get around by any other means than tour bus. We, however, we did not plan on this. My husband, (70), and recovering from a kidney transplant did not want to slow us down. We rented a wheel chair and brought it with us. This was our first experience with wheel chairs. Hopefully it will be our last for a while.
To the far right, above, is a picture taken by my granddaughter. This is the first time she has used a digital camera. She is passionate about photography so we let her snap away.
The Eternal Flame sits atop of President John F. Kennedy's gravesite. It sits atop a hill overlooking the cemetery below. It is quite impressive. However, getting there with a wheelchair can be quite a task. It is mostly up hill. There are stairs to climb to get to it. My husband, who was having trouble with having to use a wheelchair, chose to walk up the stairs, (which took him quite a while to accomplish. I pushed the chair up the stone path to the top where I waited for my family. Below is our photo gallery of Kennedy's gravesite. More Arlington Photos & Information
